Nakis Panayotidis

Nakis Panayotidis ( Greek Νάκης Παναγιωτίδης ; born January 24, 1947 in Athens ) is a Greek object and installation artist.

life and work

Panayotidis began studying architecture in Turin in 1966 and switched to fine arts, theater and film in Rome in 1967 . He worked with stone, asphalt and lead, with which he made “signs” in words and pictures. He had his first exhibition participation in Turin in 1970. In 1971 he met Agnès Häussler, whom he married in 1973. The first solo exhibition was at the Galerie Wahlen in Bern, where he has lived since then. In 1975 the daughter Anastasia Artemis was born. In 1977 he worked at the Centro internazionale di sperimentazioni artistiche in Boissano together with Maurizio Mocchetti as well as Marisa and Mario Merz . Since 1980 he has been back in Greece frequently , where he bought a house on Serifos . In 1985 the first tar and tar cardboard pictures with straw and stones ( Goya ) were created. In 1987 the installation The tip of wisdom turns against the wise ( Nietzsche ) was created. In 1989 the first wall picture installations with writing boards and photographs of abandoned ore mines on Serifos, light installations. In addition to the asphalt writing boards, the lead writing boards appeared in 1991. In addition to the mnemographies of the abandoned ore mine, there were those of an abandoned steel factory in Eleusis in 1993 . In 1994 his first museum exhibition was at the Kunstmuseum Bern . In 2005 the book Nakis Panayotidis - Ladro di Luce was published by Bruno Corà and Benteli Verlag, Bern. Nakis Panayotidis lives in Bern , Switzerland.
