Nam June Paik Award

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nam June Paik Award , also the International Media Art Prize of the Kunststiftung NRW , is a German art prize for media art that is awarded every two years. The prize was donated by the Kunststiftung NRW in 2002 and bears the name of Nam June Paik , the Korean pioneer of video art.

An international selection jury nominates six to eight artists or groups of artists for an exhibition that has previously taken place in different locations in the Rhineland or the Ruhr area . One of the nominated participants is selected by a jury and receives the main prize endowed with € 25,000 (as of 2012). The NRW sponsorship award, which was awarded at the same time, is limited in its selection to young artists from North Rhine-Westphalia and is endowed with 15,000 €.
