Nancy Njie
Nancy Seedy Njie (* 7. November 1965 ) is a former tourism - and culture minister ( Secretary of State for Tourism and Culture ) of the West African country Gambia .
Life
After attending Gambia High School , she worked for what was then Gambia Airways from 1984 to 1991 , after which she became self-employed as the owner of the canteen of the Gambia Ports Authority .
On April 26, 2006, she received the Medal (RGM) of the Order of the Republic of The Gambia and was elected Deputy Mayor of Banjul in November 2007 . She had previously been elected to the Gambia Telecommunications Company's supervisory board on January 8, 2007 , but was dissolved again in August of the same year.
She was appointed to the cabinet of President Yahya Jammeh on March 20, 2008. She replaced Angela Colley , who was the Gambia's High Commissioner in Nigeria . Njie was sworn in on March 26, 2008.
On February 4, 2010, she was replaced by Fatou Mass Jobe-Njie . Nije became Executive Director of the Jammeh Foundation for Peace .
Honors
Njie received the Order Officer (ORG) in May 2009.
