Angela Colley

Angela Bernadette Colley (* 13. November 1964 in Serekunda - New Jeshwang ) was tourism - and culture minister ( Secretary of State for Tourism and Culture ) of the West African country Gambia and is now ambassador.

Life

She began her school career in Kartong in 1971 and graduated from Technical High School in 1984. In 1988 she went to Gambia College and after two years she qualified for elementary school teaching. She taught at a primary school in Jokadu / North Bank Region for two years before going back to Gambia College to achieve a higher qualification. She achieved this in 1994 with a specialization in English and history. She taught secondary school in Kerewan for two years and was then transferred to a school in the Greater Banjul Area . In 1999 she was transferred to a newly opened school in Jokadu and stayed there for two years. In 2001 she enrolled at the University of Gambia and graduated in 2004 as the best female participant.

After her graduation, she got a job as a deputy school principal at a primary school in Abuko until she was appointed to the cabinet of President Yahya Jammeh on October 31, 2006 . She replaced Susan Waffa-Ogoo , who had taken on the Secretary of State for Trade, Industry and Employment .

She handed over the office to Nancy Njie on March 19, 2008 , and from then on represented Gambia as High Commissioner in Nigeria . Fatou Sinyan Mergan had previously turned down this post.
