In 1639 the iron ore miner Tomasz Wydra Polkowski settled in Narewka. The local economy was characterized by the smelting of lawn iron ore .
In the area of today's Narewka municipality, four farms were built in the 18th century : Grodzisk, Lewkowo, Łuka and Siemianówka. During the third partition of Poland in 1795 , Narewka fell to Russia .
Narewka received town charter in the second half of the 19th century, but the exact date is not known. In 1888 Narewka had about 860 inhabitants, including 780 Jews. The Hajnówka - Wołkowysk railway line has passed through the present municipality since 1906.
In the interwar period , small industrial companies, a turpentine factory, the Hackiel glassworks and a windmill were located in the village.
During the Second World War , the town was not destroyed, but many residents were Jewish victims of the Holocaust .
