The National Museum of the Kiev Art Gallery ( Ukrainian Національний музей, "Київська картинна галерея" ), or the Kiev National Art Gallery ( Київська національна національна каенрена ) is a capital of the Ukrainian art museum in Kiev . Until January 25, 2017 it was called the National Museum of Russian Art .
The museum has one of the most important art collections in Ukraine with more than 12,000 exhibits. It is located on Tereshchenkivska Street ( Терещенківська вулиця ) No. 9 in the Kiev district of Shevchenko, on Shevchenko Park, and is open daily from Monday to Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In the so-called Chocolate House in Kiev there is a branch of the museum with the children's picture gallery .
history
The museum was founded on November 12, 1922 as a Kiev art gallery in the villa of the Ukrainian entrepreneur, philanthropist and collector Fedir Tereshchenko on the basis of nationalized private collections, the largest of which was the art collection of the Kiev industrialists and philanthropists Tereshchenko .

The museum's chronological exhibition is located in more than 30 halls and contains a collection of icons from the 13th to 17th centuries and a collection of paintings from the 18th to the 20th centuries with works of art by Ivan Aivazovsky , Mark Antokolski, among others , Vladimir Borovikovsky , Konstantin Korovin , Ivan Kramskoi , Boris Kustodiev , Ilich Levitan , Dmitry Levitsky , Mikhail Nesterov , Ilya Repin , Alexei Sawrassow , Dawid Shterenberg , Ivan Shishkin , Valentin Serov , Rufin Sudkowskyj , Vasily Tropinin , Vasily Vereshchagin and Mikhail Vrubel .
