Laguna Blanca National Park
The Laguna Blanca National Park (Spanish: Parque Nacional Laguna Blanca ) is located in the west of the Neuquén province , about 30 km from Zapala, in the south-west of Argentina .
history
It was created in 1945 to protect the lagoon and especially the black-necked swan ( Cygnus melancoryphus ) population . It covers an area of 112.5 km². The wetland was included in the Ramsar Convention because of its relevance as a habitat for water birds .
The lagoon is located in the Patagonian steppe, surrounded by hills and canyons. Near the lagoon is the Salamanca Cave, which was once inhabited by humans in prehistoric times and where the typical cave paintings of northern Patagonia can be viewed.
