National Philharmonic (Warsaw)
The National Philharmonie Warsaw ( Pol. Filharmonia Narodowa ) is a concert hall , and a symphonic orchestra in Warsaw .
Building history
The Warsaw National Philharmonic was inaugurated in 1901. The building of the Philharmonie was constructed from 1900 to 1901. The first concert took place on November 5, 1901. It was conducted by Emil Młynarski , the first director of the Philharmonic. The founders included a. the pianist Ignacy Jan Paderewski and the financier and art patron Baron Leopold Kronenberg . The building was built in the neo-baroque style according to the projects of the architect Karol Kozłowski. The ceiling painting was created by the painter Henryk Siemiradzki .
The building burned down in September 1939 during the siege of Warsaw and was totally destroyed during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. During the reconstruction, the size of the building was kept, but the facades and interiors were designed in a simplified classical style . The Philharmonie reopened on February 21, 1955 with the start of the 5th Chopin Piano Competition . The Philharmonic received the title Narodowa (Eng. 'National').
The concert hall with two balconies has 1072 seats, the chamber music hall in the basement has 433 seats.

The organ was built by the organ builder Schuke (Berlin). The instrument has 71 stops on three manual works and a pedal .
