The natural monument “Quell-Kerbtälchen” in the 2.63 hectares in size is located southeast of Hildfeld in the city of Winterberg . The area was designated as a natural monument (ND) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Winterberg landscape plan . In addition, the area of ​​the springs is a legally protected biotope according to § 62 of the Landscape Act North Rhine-Westphalia with the designation GB-4716-073 and a size of 0.27 ha.

The ND consists of two morphologically impressive spring troughs exposed to the southeast. The spring troughs have dug into slate rock areas. The spring basin areas are located in the European beech forest which is surrounded by red spruce forests. To the north of the ND, the two headwaters unite to form an unnamed Hillebach tributary .
