Natural monument outcrop at the Ehrenscheider mill
The natural monument outcrop at the Ehrenscheider Mühle with a size of 0.08 ha is located south of Elkeringhausen and west of the Ehrenscheider Mühle in the urban area of Winterberg . The area was designated as a natural monument (ND) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Winterberg landscape plan . The former quarry is located in the buried claystone of the Fredeburg strata of the Middle Devon with an age of approx. 380 million years. It is located on the western flank of the Orketals . A rare kink foliation can be seen on the high rock face.
