Rützen-Felsen natural monument

The natural monument Rützen-Felsen with a size of 1.76 hectares is located south of Niedersfeld in the urban area of Winterberg . The area was designated as a natural monument (ND) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Winterberg landscape plan . In addition, sub-areas are a legally protected biotope according to Section 62 of the Landscape Act North Rhine-Westphalia with the designation GB-4717-115 and a size of 0.48 ha.

The designated ledge is an extension of a diabase rock band . The rock is up to 10 m high. A rock dump is upstream to the north. Part of a Way of the Cross is in the ND. In addition to rocky areas with oaks, there are mountain ash areas and red spruce areas in the ND. A specific field flora with perennial silver leaf and potted fern occurs on the rocky areas .
