Biggequell area nature reserve

The Biggequell area nature reserve is a 12.18 hectare nature reserve (NSG) west of the village of Döingen in the municipality of Wenden in the Olpe district in North Rhine-Westphalia . It was designated in 2008 by the district council with the landscape plan No. 4 Wenden - Drolshagen . The NSG consists of two areas. The sub-areas are located to the northwest and southeast of the summit of Bigger Berg . It is right on the border with Rhineland-Palatinate . The Biggequell area nature reserve of the same name borders on the municipality of Kirchen .

Area description

The NSG is an upper section of the Bigge and two source areas of Bigge tributaries. At the springs there are spring moor and wet grassland complexes. There are rare and endangered animal and plant species such as peat moss and small sedge in particular.
