Sellenbruch nature reserve

The Sellenbruch nature reserve is a 17-  hectare nature reserve (NSG) south of the village of Silberg in the municipality of Kirchhundem in the Olpe district in North Rhine-Westphalia . In 1942 and 2004, the Arnsberg district government designated the area as an NSG by ordinance. The 1942 expulsion was one of the first NSG expulsions in Westphalia . Since 2004, parts of the NSG have also been designated as FFH areas Dollenbruch, Sellenbruch and Silberbachoberlauf (DE-4914-302) with an area of ​​41 hectares. Other parts of the FFH area are located in the Dollenbruch nature reserve .

Area description

The NSG is an important birch moor forest and alder alluvial forest. There are also natural spring areas and streams rich in peat moss . The king fern has its largest occurrence in the NSG in the southern mountains .
