The Schwarzbachsystem nature reserve with Haberg and Krenkeltal is a 312 hectare nature reserve (NSG) west of the village of Albaum in the municipality of Kirchhundem in the Olpe district in North Rhine-Westphalia . In 1961 and 2003, the Arnsberg district government designated the area as an NSG by ordinance. The NSG consists of six sub-areas. The NSG is located south of the Panorama Park Sauerland Wildlife Park . The NSG goes in the east to the district boundary to the Siegen-Wittgenstein district . In 2004, 311 hectares of the NSG were also designated as the FFH area of ​​the Schwarzbach system with Haberg and Krenkeltal (DE-4915-302).

Area description

The NSG is a near-natural, extensive, heavily branched brook system of the Schwarzbach , Meinscheidbach and their tributaries. The NSG has sources in larger or smaller hillside spring moors and moor and swamp forests. There are riverside alder floodplain forests and riparian wood, birch and alder swamp forests and bog forests. In the floodplains there are also juniper heaths or mountain heaths, nib grass lawns , species-rich moist tall herbaceous meadows , small and large sedge areas, wet and poor fallow land, wet, wet and lean grassland. In the disused railway tunnel between Krenkel and Schwarzbachtal there is an important winter roost for bats.

There are rare species such as the NSG bullhead , brook lamprey , greater mouse-eared , Daubenton's bat , Brandt's bat , brown long-eared , kingfisher , black woodpecker , Tengmalm , black stork and gray shrike ago.
