description

Quartz keratophyr rocks at the Albaumer cliffs

The Albaumer Klippen are around 750 meters long and up to 15 meters high made of quartz keratophyr , which were formed around 480 million years ago during volcanic activity. You are completely in the nature reserve, as rare mosses, ferns and lichens grow on the 50-meter-wide scree field surrounding the rocks and on the rocks themselves. These include, for example, the map lichen and the northern striped fern . The rocks are also covered with light deciduous forest. On a rock in the upper half of the rock group there is a lookout rock, which is marked with a summit cross .

hike

There is a strict route requirement for the nature reserve . Two paths run through the area, from which the cliffs can be viewed up close. In addition, a short trail leads from one path to the lookout rock.
