Nauker ( Hindi : नौकर, Urdu : نوکر, translated: servant ) is a Bollywood film with Jaya Bachchan and Sanjeev Kumar in the leading roles.

action

The rich widower Amar has a little daughter named Aarti who longs for the security of a mother. Friends and acquaintances also try to persuade Amar to marry again. His sister already knows a family with two nice daughters.

But before Amar binds himself, he wants to put the two potential wives to the test: he swaps roles with his servant Dayal. So they pay a visit to the family of four. Durga and her husband Shanti greet them warmly and introduce them to their daughters Shobha and Sheela - both young modern women.

By reversing roles, Amar meets Durga's household helper Geeta, who always helps him when he's in a tight spot. After a few days, Aarti also made up her mind - she would like Geeta as her mother. In a very short time they both grew in love. Finally, if there is a misunderstanding, Amar and Dayal reveal their real identity.

Shobha, who has fallen in love with Dayal, wants to marry him despite his poor circumstances. Sheela wants to marry her secret college boyfriend Vijay. And Amar chooses the kind-hearted Geeta, with whom he fell in love.
