Nazzareno Marconi (born February 12, 1958 in Città di Castello , Province of Perugia , Italy ) is Bishop of Macerata-Tolentino-Recanati-Cingoli-Treia .

Life

After attending school in Città di Castello, he studied philosophy at the Lateran University and theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University , from which he graduated as a licentiate in theology.

Nazzareno Marconi received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Città di Castello on July 2, 1983 and then worked as vicar at the cathedral. From 1987 to 2003 he was a religion teacher at a state school and in higher education. In the same years he also taught at the Diocesan School of Theology Cesare Pagani in Città di Castello and at that of Perugia Leone XIII . From 1990 to 2004 he was director of the catechetical office of the diocese of Città di Castello. In 1990 he was appointed lecturer at the Theological Institute of Assisi. In October 1997 he received his doctorate in Biblical Theology at the Pontifical Urban University with a thesis on the narrative structure of the Joseph story . In 1998 he was appointed pastor of Citerna and in 2003 he became an extraordinary permanent teacher of the Holy Scriptures at the Theological Institute of Assisi. From 2004 to 2013 he was Rector of the Pontifical Regional Seminary for Umbria Pio XI in Assisi. He has been His Holiness' chaplain since 2005 . From 2005 to 2011 he was director of the regional catechetical office of Umbria. On September 1, 2013, he became pastor of the parish of San Donato in Trestina (Città di Castello).

On June 3, 2014, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Macerata-Tolentino-Recanati-Cingoli-Treia. The Archbishop of Perugia-Città della Pieve , Cardinal Gualtiero Bassetti , ordained him episcopal on July 13 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Città di Castello, Domenico Cancian FAM , and the Ecclesiastical Assessor and General Chaplain of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart , Bishop Claudio Giuliodori . The inauguration took place on July 27, 2014.
