Nelson Pinedo
Napoleón Nelson Pinedo Fedullo (born February 10, 1928 in Barranquilla , † October 27, 2016 in Valencia ), known as El Almirante del Ritmo and El pollo barranquillero , was a Colombian singer .
Pinedo initially worked as an advertising and news anchor for the radio station Voz de la Patria . He toured with the orchestras of Julio Lastra and the Hermanos Rodríguez and recorded the Bolero Mucho, mucho, mucho with the latter in Maracaibo . After returning to Barranquilla, he joined the orchestra of Antonio Maria Peñaloza . With this he was engaged in Club La Casbah in Bogotá . During this time he also worked with the Don Américo y sus Caribes orchestra (with pianist Alex Tovar ).
In 1953 Pinedo traveled to Cuba via Venezuela , where he met Chucho Sanoja . There he was to replace Daniel Santos with the Sonora Matancera Orchestra for two weeks ; it turned into a five-year collaboration. In addition to the Sonora Matancera, he has recorded with orchestras such as Tito Rodríguez and Rafael Cortijos . His interpretation of José María Peñaranda's song Me voy pa'La Habana became famous .
