geography

Nettelstedt viewed from the peat bog. This, here even called Nettelstedter Moor , is administratively part of the Hille municipality.
Topography of the locality

Nettelstedt lies between the Wiehengebirge and the Großer Torfmoor . The highest mountain in the area of the district is the Nettelstedter Berg . Nettelstedt has a share in all three major landscapes of the entire city of Lübbecke:

  • In the south part of the Wiehengebirge
  • The center naturally belongs to the Lübbecker Loessland
  • The north, in turn, is part of the Rahden-Diepenauer Geest , with Nettelstedt only owning a small part of this area. Nettelstedt does not reach as far as the Mittelland Canal, but the city limits are clearly offset to the south here and so the municipality of Hille strikes a large part of the large peat bog, although this Nettelstedt is much closer.

The natural environment of Nettelstedt is very similar to that of the two neighboring villages of Eilhausen and Gehlenbeck. In the south the actual village borders on the Wiehen Mountains and in the north the low-lying grassland merges into the nature reserve of the Great Peat Bog. In between, on the fertile loess strip, lies the relatively closed village.
