Location of Alswede in Lübbecke

Alswede is a village in the East Westphalian city of Lübbecke in the Minden-Lübbecke district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

geography

Land use, settlements and partial landscapes in Alswede

Alswede lies on the northern slope of the Wiehen Mountains . To the west it borders on Hedem (district of Preußisch Oldendorf ) and to the east on the district Stockhausen and the industrial area of Lübbecke (core town) . To the north, Alswede borders on Espelkamp and the Mittelland Canal . The Große Aue flows immediately west of the village and the Kleine Aue flows immediately east of the village. The Alsweder area itself is traversed by the Alsweder Bach. In the south is the Alsweder Bruch, which is mostly in the area of Blasheim . With 495 inhabitants per km², the village has a comparatively high population density. The reason for this is that there are only a few open corridors next to the actual housing estate in this area, which is the smallest district in terms of area.

Villagescape

With the new development of trade and industry in Alswede there was a great demand for living space in the 1950s, which could be satisfied by converting the arable land in the center of the village into building land. Alswede did not expand spatially due to the close settlement of a central area, but grew inward. As a result, agriculture, which was once formative, soon played only an insignificant role and is barely recognizable in the town center. The area of the village is relatively poorly forested. There are seven small forests in the area, the largest of which is 2.5 hectares and is located in the outermost northeastern tip of the village. In the southwest, however, Alswede borders directly on the large Hollwinkeler Holz .

One consequence of the demarcation of the boundaries during the territorial reform in 1973 is a narrow area corridor on the Mittelland Canal, through which Alswede received a small portion of the Rauhe Horst - Schäferwiesen nature reserve .

history

In the Middle Ages, the Counts of Tecklenburg owned significant real estate in the Alswede area. The St. Andreas Church , a Mecklenburg foundation, was first mentioned in a document in 1240, and with it the actual place Alswede. The Tecklenburger exercised the church patronage until 1707, before that the county fell to Brandenburg-Prussia . Around 1856, the manor districts of Benkhausen , Ellerburg , Hollwinkel and Hüffe were spun off. The community Alswede consisted of the farmers Alswede, Fiestel and Gestringen . Due to the municipal reform on January 1, 1973, the farmers were separated and Alswede was incorporated into the city of Lübbecke. Fiestel and Gestringen were added to the Espelkamp urban area .

Effects of the territorial reform

The office and the former municipality of Alswede were smashed. Alswede's earlier meaning was completely lost.

The village of Alswede was the central church in the Alswede district with its seat in Fiestel , to which six other communities ( Lashorst , Hedem , Vehlage , Fiestel, Fabbenstedt and Gestringen ) and the Gutshöfe, Hollwinkel, Ellerburg and Benkhausen were assigned. While the municipal reform in other municipalities took into account the historical boundaries in such a way that the areas were assigned to one city or the other, both the Alswede and the Alswede municipality were divided territorially. The center of the village of Alswede, some areas south of the Mittelland Canal, became the smallest district in Lübbeck, while the other parts of the village became Espelkamp.

politics

  • The mayor of Alswede is Michael Tiemeier. His predecessor Günther Vullriede died on August 21, 2016 after more than 20 years in office.
  • The local caretaker is Heinrich Meier.

Sports

The local association Hedemer Sport Club Alswede von 1946 eV (short: HSC Alswede ) with almost 650 members (as of 2013) is the sports club with the largest number of members in the Minden-Lübbecke district and also promotes young talents with well-developed youth work. So far, three youth players have made it into the youth soccer department of Arminia Bielefeld .

Others

Alswede has a sports field, a sports hall and a playground, which are located in the center of the village.
