history

Neudorf was laid out in 1691 by the owner of the Obersohland manor, Christoph Abraham von der Sahla, on the oars and slices belonging to the manor floors and was the first expansion of the Obersohland manor. Some of the settlers were Bohemian exiles from Hainspach and Schirgiswalde . One of the properties was licensed in 1703 and was named "Güldene drum". The name of the inn, which popularly referred to the entire district until the end of the 19th century, is said to come from the fact that the subjects of the remote village were summoned to court services in Sohland by means of a drum.

From the middle of the 19th century, Neudorf was part of the Obersohland community, and the settlement in Mittelohland was parish. Since the merger of Obersohland with Wendischsohland, Mittelohland and Niedersohland to form the municipality of Sohland on the Spree in 1877, Neudorf was a district of the same. At the beginning of the 20th century, the road to Hainspach was made and a customs office was built on the border with Bohemia. The Prinz-Friedrich-August-Baude with the observation tower of the same name was built in 1900. In the 20th century Neudorf not only developed into a popular summer resort, but also a winter sports resort due to its altitude. In 1930 the Sohland ski club built a new ski jump on the Schwarzen Koppe. In the 1950s, the Sohland skiers built new winter sports facilities around Friedrich-August-Höhe; A downhill run, toboggan run and cross-country ski runs as well as a Kradjöring run from the Sonnenblick children's home in Obersohland to the former customs office or on the heights were created. In addition to the Prinz-Friedrich-August-Baude, which was renamed "Grenzbaude" during the GDR era, the Oberschmiede inn in Obersohland served as accommodation for the athletes who traveled to the competitions. In the 1970s a new winter sports center was built near Tännicht, which meant that the slopes and jumps near Neudorf were no longer available.

On January 1, 2011, Tännicht was deleted as an official part of the municipality of Sohland an der Spree.
