The Neukirchner Platte is one of 41 Upper Austrian spatial units and is located in the Innviertel .

The room unit is located exclusively in the Braunau am Inn district .

The area of ​​the Neukirchner Platte is 118.49 km² and is around 18 kilometers long and wide. The deepest area is around 380  m above sea level. A. am Brunner Graben. The highest area of ​​the area is on the slope of the Adenberg at around 500  m above sea level. A.

The following municipal areas have a high proportion of the Neukirchner Platte (in alphabetical order): Gilgenberg , Hochburg-Ach , Neukirchen and Schwand im Innkreis .

The room unit is surrounded by the following Upper Austria room units (clockwise, starting in the north): Inntal , Weilharts- and Lachforst , Inn- and Hausruckviertler Hügelland , Hausruck and Kobernaußerwald , Südinnviertler Seengebiet and Salzachtal . The Weilharts- and Lachforst spatial unit divides the Neukirchner Platte into two independent parts.

Characteristic

  • A pure, flat, undulating landscape with arable farming .
  • Small proportion of forest (around 5%). Beech forests are predominant , and also ash forests on a small scale . Spruce forests are mainly found in the plain. There are linear strips of wood along embankments.
  • Hardly any surface water, locally there are temporarily water-bearing stream valleys. There are isolated ponds that are close to nature.
  • There are hardly any cultural landscape elements. Orchards only in the vicinity of the farms.
  • Wet meadows can be found in small valley areas, but rarely.
  • Hardly populated and mostly individual standing four-sided courtyards or small hamlets . Small villages can only be found near the Salzach.
