The Nevasa was laid down by Barclay, Curle & Company in Glasgow in May 1953 and launched on November 30, 1955. After delivery to the British India Steam Navigation Company on July 12, 1956, the ship began liner service from Great Britain to the British colonies in India and regularly transported troops in addition to passengers.
After six years in service was Nevasa in October 1962 launched . After two years of berth she was transferred to Falmouth in November 1964 , where she was converted into a training ship. On October 28, 1965, the ship was put back into service.
In 1971 the Nevasa became the property of the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P&O), which from then on also used it for cruises . In January 1975 the ship completed its last cruise from Valletta before it was sold to Taiwan for scrapping. On March 30, 1975, the Nevasa met at the Nan Feng Steel Enterprise demolition yard, where scrapping began in June 1975.
