Newe Shalom and / or Wahat al- Salām ( Hebrew נְוֵה שָׁלוֹם Nəweh Schalom , Arabic واحة السلام, DMG Wāḥat as-Salām , German "Place of Peace"; Transcription in English Neve Shalom ) is a peace village in Israel. It is equidistant from Tel Aviv-Jaffa and Jerusalem and was founded in the early 1970s by Bruno Hussar on land leased to him from the neighboring monastery in Latrun . The village is inhabited by Jewish and Arab Israelis. “They work together for equality and understanding between the two peoples.” By 2012 the village had grown to over 60 families, with the same number of Jews and Arabs. A population of 140 families is planned. In 2018 the village had 295 inhabitants.

The name is derived from Isa 32,18  EU : "My people will live in a place of peace, in safe apartments, in quiet and quiet places." Today, the coexistence in the Peace Village shows that peaceful partnership between Jews and Arabs is possible in a community based on tolerance, mutual respect and cooperation. The community is managed democratically and belongs to the members, so it is independent of political parties and movements.
