The New York Bluefins were an American ice hockey team from Cortland , New York . The team played in the Federal Hockey League from 2010 to 2013 .

history

The franchise was founded in the spring of 2010 under the name Broome County Barons as one of the six founding members of the Federal Hockey League , in which they participated in the game from the 2010/11 season . The Broome County Barons played their home games in the 1,200-seat Chenango Ice Rink in Chenango , New York .

In December 2010, the Barons announced the withdrawal from Chenango, as the audience response was disappointingly low and the team could not develop a fan base. For the Johnny Bower Night” - a home game with a certain motto - only 75 paying spectators appeared.

A few days later, Mike Mullaney became the new owner of the team, who also acted as head coach and general manager of the Barons. The franchise was relocated to Cape Cod , Massachusetts in early January 2011 , where it continued to play in the Federal Hockey League. A few months later, as part of a change of ownership, the name of the franchise was changed again, which now took part in the Federal Hockey League's game operations as Cape Cod Bluefins .

In December 2012, the team was taken over by the league, relocated to Cortland , New York , and renamed New York Bluefins. At the beginning of February 2013, the team finally stopped playing.
