The Nexus 6P (code name Angler ) is an Android smartphone manufactured by Huawei . It was developed together with Google and presented as part of their Nexus series on September 29, 2015 together with the Nexus 5X . It is the successor to the Nexus 6 . The Nexus 6P comes with Android version 6.0 Marshmallow .

Technical specifications

hardware

The Nexus 6P has a Snapdragon  810 processor and 3 GB of RAM and is available with 32, 64 or 128 GB of internal storage. The battery has a capacity of 3450 mAh and can be charged via a USB Type-C connector. The camera was produced by Sony . The rear camera has a resolution of 12.3 megapixels and an aperture of f / 2.0 and uses an infrared laser for autofocus. The use of particularly large pixels with a size of 1.55 µm should enable photos to be taken even in poor light conditions. Videos can also be recorded in slow motion mode at 240 frames per second. The front camera has 8 megapixels and an aperture of f / 2.4.

The device has a fingerprint sensor called "Nexus Imprint" on the back, which can also be used by third party applications. The screen made of "Gorilla Glass 4" uses a 5.7 "WQHD AMOLED with 2,560 × 1,440 pixels and therefore a pixel density of 518 ppi. The Nexus 6P supports" Project Fi ", Google's own cellular network.

To save energy, Google has introduced the “Android Sensor Hub”, a special energy-saving processor for data acquisition, for which it is directly connected to the accelerometer , gyroscope and fingerprint scanner , among other things . The main processor, which requires more energy, only needs to be active when further activities are required. The “Sensor Hub” recognizes, for example, when the device is picked up and then shows notifications on the screen in energy-saving black and white text until the screen is explicitly activated. In addition, the “Sensor Hub” supports batch processing of various sensors, a function that was introduced in Android KitKat. Because an extra chip is used, the CPU does not need to be active for every sensor activity, which leads to a reduced power consumption. Batch processing of motion detection can be used for a pedometer, for example.

software

The Nexus 6P is supplied with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system .

design

The smartphone is the first in the Nexus series with a continuous metal housing. It is available in aluminum, graphite, frost, and gold (Japan only).

On the metal back, the Nexus 6P has a black bar on the top that contains the rear camera. The dimensions of the device are 159.3 mm × 77.8 mm × 7.3 mm, and it weighs 178 grams.
