The Ngaruroro River is a 200 km long river in the Hawke's Bay region on the North Island of New Zealand .

geography

The Ngaruroro River rises at the confluence of the Mangamingi Stream and Te Waioturitia Stream , 6 km south of the 1436  m high Mountgaorangi and around 25 km northwest of the Kaweka Range . The river first flows in a southerly direction through the western foothills of the Kaweka Range , then turns at its southern end through a gorge to the east, running through a gentler mountain landscape, finally ending in the Heretaunga Plains and 1.3 km in front of the Estuary, south of Napier near the small town of Clive, united with the Tutaekuri River . A few meters before the confluence with Hawke Bay , a smaller river flows in from the south.

use

The river is very popular among anglers in the region, as it offers the possibility of fishing over a distance of over 100 km. Rainbow trout and brown trout in particular can be fished in its waters.
