The Nièvre is a river in France that runs in the Nièvre département , to which it has given its name, in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region . It rises near Bourras-la-Grange in the municipality of Champlemy , generally drains south to south-west and flows into the Loire after 50 kilometers in Nevers as a right tributary . The estuary section in the urban area runs underground, but most of the water flow is already diverted into a canal at Coulanges-lès-Nevers , which bypasses Nevers in the east and reaches the Loire about 500 meters above the original mouth.
