Nicholas Deshong (born April 24, 1992 in Bridgetown ) is a Barbadian athlete who specializes in sprinting .

Athletic career

Nicholas Deshong gained his first international experience at the CARIFTA Games 2009 in Vieux-Fort , where he reached the semi-finals over 200 meters. He then took part in the youth world championships in Brixen , where he also reached the semifinals and was eliminated there with 21.57 s. In 2010 he took fifth place over 200 meters at the Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships in Santo Domingo , as well as with the Barbadian 4 x 100 meter relay. In 2011 he retired from the CARIFTA Games in Montego Bay over 100 and 200 meters in the first round.

In 2012 he was eliminated from the U23 NACAC championships in Irapuato over 100 meters in the run and finished eighth over 200 meters in 21.25 s. In addition, he reached fifth place with the relay in 40.30 seconds. At the 2013 CAC Championships in Morelia , he retired over 200 meters in the first round and finished fourth in the relay in 39.56 s. 2014 finished eighth again in the U23 NACAC championships in Kamloops in 21.24 s.

At the IAAF World Relays 2015 he finished second in the B-final with the 100-meter relay and retired from the preliminary round with the 4-by-200-meter relay. At the Pan American Games in Toronto took fourth place with the season in 38.79 s. He then won the bronze medal with the relay at the NACAC championships in San José and reached the semi-finals over 200 meters. In 2017 he won the silver medal with the 4 x 100 meter relay at the World Relays . In 2018 he took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time and was eliminated there over 200 meters with 21.26 s in the first round. He also took fifth place with the Barbadian relay team.
