Nicholas Walker Browne

Sir Nicholas Walker Browne KBE (2002), CMG (born December 17, 1947 in West Malling , Kent - † January 13, 2014 ) was a British diplomat .

Life

Nicholas Walker Browne in London. In 1969 he joined the foreign service, was third class embassy secretary in the North America department of the FCO and married Diana Marise Aldwinckle. They have a daughter, Jeremy Browne. From 1970 to 1971 he learned languages. From 1971 to 1975 he was employed at the embassy in Tehran , then until 1976 he worked in the South Asia department of the FCO. From 1976 to 1980 he was employed by the Cabinet, after which he served as first class embassy secretary and head of the consular department in Salisbury until 1981. From 1984 to 1989 he worked for the British representation in Brussels. In 1989, he was chargé d'affaires in Tehran , as Ruhollah Khomeini on February 14 a fatwa against Salman Rushdie spoke what led to his dismissal. From 1990 to 1994 he was Counselor in Washington, DC and headed the British Information Service in New York City, then until 1997 the Middle East Department in the FCO. From 1997 to 2001 he was charge d'affaires in Tehran . From 2001 to 2002 he taught at the Royal College of Defense Studies. From 2003 to 2006 he was ambassador to Copenhagen .
