Nick Wiggins (born February 4, 1991 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian basketball player . The swingman has been playing in North Macedonia since 2016 and is currently active in the Prva Liga for KK Rabotnički Skopje .

Career

High school and college

The athletic career of athletic Wiggins began at Vinciennes University and Wabasha University in Indiana . Most recently he played for Wichita State University , which is based in the Missouri Valley Conference . In 2014 he and his team won 35 games in a row up to the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship called March Madness . In an average of 15 minutes, Wiggins got 5.1 points and 2.3 rebounds.

Professional career

Basketball Bundesliga

The first station as a basketball professional for the Swingman is the Club am Neckar, the Walter Tigers Tübingen , which Wiggins offered a one-year contract in the summer of 2014. The contact came about at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas . At the beginning of December, his contract in Tübingen was terminated by mutual agreement.

NBA D-League

On January 9, 2015, Wiggins joined the Idaho Stampede in the D-League . In the 2014/15 season he was able to achieve an average of 9.8 points and 2.0 rebounds.

In July 2015, he participated in the Utah Summer League for the Utah Jazz and in the Las Vegas Summer League for the Minnesota Timberwolves . On September 18, 2015, he received a contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, but this was dissolved after four friendly matches on October 24, 2015.

He then returned to the Idaho Stampede on November 1, 2015, but the contract was terminated after only eleven days. Two days later, on November 13, 2015, he also joined the Raptors 905, who were active in the D-League . After ten games, in which he was able to achieve an average of 4.0 points and 1.7 rebounds, the contract was dissolved again.

New Zealand, Australia and Macedonia

After the two failed attempts to gain a foothold in the D-League, Wiggins moved to New Zealand for the Canterbury Rams in late January 2016 . A few days before the start of the season, however, Wiggins was fired by the Rams.

A day later, Wiggins signed with the Mackay Meteors, who are active in the second-rate Queensland Basketball League in Australia. After eight games in which Wiggins averaged 21.4 points, 2.9 assists and 5.8 rebounds, the Mackay Meteors dismissed Wiggins.

In October 2016, Nick Wiggins signed a contract with the Macedonian first division club KK Rabotnički Skopje .

Personal

Nick is the older brother of Andrew Wiggins , the first pick in the 2014 NBA draft . Wiggins also has another brother and three sisters. The Wiggins brothers got their passion for basketball from their father Mitchell Wiggins, who was a professional player in the NBA for the Chicago Bulls . But her mother, Marita Payne, was a successful Canadian sprinter , who won two silver medals at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles with the 4 × 100 meter and the 4 × 400 meter relay of the Canadian team.
