Nicolás Fasolino
Nicolás Cardinal Fasolino (born January 3, 1887 in Buenos Aires , Argentina , † August 13, 1969 in Santa Fe ) was Archbishop of Santa Fe .
Life
Nicolás Fasolino studied in the seminary of Buenos Aires and at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome , the subjects philosophy and Catholic theology . He received the sacrament of ordination on October 28, 1909 and then worked as a parish priest in the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires . He also taught at the Center for Religious Studies in Buenos Aires. He also performed various tasks in the diocesan administration.
On October 20, 1932, Pope Pius XI. the leadership of the diocese of Santa Fe in Argentina. He received his episcopal consecration on December 21, 1932 Filippo Cortesi , Apostolic Nuncio in Argentina; Co- consecrators were the future Cardinal Santiago Luis Copello , Archbishop of Buenos Aires , and Fortunato Devoto , Auxiliary Bishop in Buenos Aires. With the elevation of the diocese of Santa Fe to the archbishopric , he also became its first archbishop. He founded the Catholic University of Santa Fe. From 1962 to 1965, Nicolás Fasolino took part in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.
Pope Paul VI took him on June 26, 1967 as a cardinal priest with the titular church Beata Maria Vergine Addolorata a piazza Buenos Aires in the college of cardinals . Nicolás Fasolino died on August 13, 1969 in Santa Fe and was buried in the local cathedral .
