Nicolás Prieto , full name Nicolás Santiago Prieto Larrea , (born September 5, 1992 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.75 meter tall midfielder Prieto, known as "Corto", has been playing for Nacional Montevideo since he was 13 years old . At the beginning of his career he was in the 2011 Clausura in the squad of the Uruguayan first division club. After his contract initially expired in late 2011, he trained with Defensor Sporting for a while , but finally returned to Nacional in February 2012 and signed a new three-year contract. Prieto's advisor at the time was entrepreneur Pablo Bentancur . In the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons Nacional was each Uruguayan champions. But Prieto did not get to play in the top division. In the Copa Libertadores 2013 he made his competitive debut for the Bolsos when he was substituted on by coach Gustavo Díaz for Juan Ángel Albín in the 2013 game against Toluca . Overall, he played in three games in this competition. He played his first league appearance in Uruguay's top division in the 2013 Clausura when the Montevideans met Cerro Largo FC . He was in the starting line-up, but was replaced by Adrián Luna in the second half . In that half series, eight appearances are made in the Primera División for Prieto. In the 2013/14 season, he was used in twelve first division games (no goal) and five matches of the Copa Libertadores 2014 (no goal). In the 2014/15 season, which ended his team by winning the Uruguayan Championship, he was used twice (no goal) in the Primera División and once (no goal) in the 2015 Copa Libertadores . No further missions were made during the 2015/16 season. In mid-August 2016, he switched to the first division promoted Boston River , for whom he played ten times (no goal) in the league in the 2016 season. He returned to Nacional in early 2017. At least since February 2017 he has been in the Rampla Juniors squad , for which he has so far (as of July 23, 2017) completed 20 top division games (no goal).

National team

Prieto was a member of the Uruguayan U-15 team coached by Fabián Coito , which took part in the U-15 South American Championship in Brazil in 2007 and finished second behind the host country. He was part of the squad of the Uruguayan U-17s at the U-17 South American Championship 2009 in Chile and at the U-17 World Cup in 2009 in Nigeria . He was used five times in the World Cup tournament. He participated with the Uruguayan U-20 selection in the 2011 U-20 South American Championship . He also took part in the U-20 World Cup that year. While he played six games at the South American Championship, he was only set up in two games at the World Cup. He did not score a goal in either tournament.
