Nicolas Mondejar

Nicolas Mollenedo Mondejar (born September 15, 1924 in Cabatuan , Philippines , † February 10, 2019 in San Carlos City ) was Bishop of San Carlos .

Life

Nicolas Mondejar was ordained a priest on April 4, 1953 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on July 17, 1970 auxiliary bishop in Cebu and titular bishop of Grumentum . The Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines , Archbishop Carmine Rocco , donated him episcopal ordination on August 30 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Antonio José Frondosa , Bishop of Capiz , and Manuel S. Salvador , Bishop of Palo .

On December 19, 1974 he was by Paul VI. appointed first bishop of the diocese of Romblon , established on the same date . Pope John Paul II appointed him on November 21, 1987 as the first bishop of the newly established diocese of San Carlos.

On July 25, 2001, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation. Mondejar last lived in the Episcopal House of San Carlos City and died of cardiac arrest in 2019 at the age of 94.
