Nicolas Raffort comes from Les Contamines-Montjoie and starts for his hometown club. After he had been successful in French youth competitions (Ecureuils d'Or), he contested his first FIS races at the age of 15 . On February 9, 2010 he made his European Cup debut in the Méribel slalom . In the following winters he repeatedly struggled with back problems, which meant he missed numerous races, including several junior world championships .
Only in the 2012/13 season he was able to start continuously in the European Cup, but remained outside the points. The following season was very successful for him. In December he won the silver medal in the Super-G at the Universiade at Passo San Pellegrino behind compatriot Blaise Giezendanner . On January 21, 2014, he celebrated his first victory in the Super-G in Val-d'Isère and finished the winter in sixth place in the downhill and eighth place in the Super-G classification. Two years later, he won a downhill run for the first time in Sarntal .
Raffort made his World Cup debut on February 23, 2013 in the downhill from Garmisch-Partenkirchen . After numerous placements beyond the top 30, he was able to score points for the first time in December 2016 in Val Gardena with rank 24. He achieved his first result in the top ten with ninth place in the downhill from Kvitfjell in March 2020.
