Nicole Marie Davis (born April 24, 1982 in Stockton , California ) is an American volleyball player . She won two Olympic silver medals in 2008 and 2012.

Career

Davis first played softball in her youth before her parents brought her to martial arts and she earned a black belt in karate . She eventually got into volleyball during her time at Lincoln High School in Stockton. While studying politics at the University of Southern California , she played as Libera on the USC Trojans team from 2000 to 2003. In the 2004/05 season Davis was in the Polish League at PTPS Piła . In 2005 she made her debut in the US national team , with which she won the NORCECA championship in the same year . In 2006, the United States finished ninth in the World Cup . Davis then moved to Istanbul to Fenerbahçe SK and played there as the first foreign Libera in the Turkish league. In 2007 she was second in the continental championship and third in the World Cup with the USA . The following year she took part in the Olympic Games , in which the Americans only lost to Brazil in the final and won silver. In 2009, Davis went to China to join Guangdong Hengda. A year later she moved to the Azerbaijani association Lokomotiv Baku . Internationally she won the Grand Prix in 2010 and 2011 . In 2011, the US team also won the NORCECA championship and took second place in the World Cup . In the same year, Libera came to the Italian league to Rebecchi Piacenza . In 2012, after the third Grand Prix victory in a row, she played at the Olympic tournament in London , which the USA finished with the silver medal after another final defeat against Brazil. In December 2012 Davis moved to Dresdner SC in the German Bundesliga and became runner-up. After the season Davis decided to move to Dinamo Bucharest .
