Nicu Constantin

Nicu Constantin (born July 31, 1939 in Eforie Sud , † September 15, 2009 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian actor .

Life

Constantin was in the Romanian seaside town of Eforie Sud in the province of Constanta born. He studied at the civil college of the navy, the cursurile Liceului de Marină , in Constanța and the college of arts, the Școala Populară de Arte , in Bucharest.

He was one of the legendary theater stars at the Teatrul de revistă Constantin Tănase comedy theater in Bucharest, where he appeared on stage in over 9,000 performances between 1960 and 2000. Between 1979 and 1982 he worked as an actor at the State Operetta Theater, the Teatrul Național de Operetă "Ion Dacian" , in Bucharest.

Constantin starred in almost 30 films and has appeared in over 300 television programs and more than 600 radio programs over the course of his career . He was considered the Jerry Lewis of Romania .

In 2000 Constantin presented his autobiography under the title Ochelarii miraculoși .

For his artistic work Constantin was awarded the State Prize for Culture, First Class. In 2001 he was made an honorary citizen of Eforie Sud. Constantin received the award at the Romanian gala event UNITER in 2005 in recognition of his work as a theater actor and in 2006 the award for his life's work.

Due to acute respiratory problems, Constantin had been receiving in-patient intensive medical treatment in the military hospital in Bucharest since May 2009. There he died of heart failure and respiratory failure at the age of 70 .

On September 19, 2009, following a funeral procession, Constantin was buried in the cemetery of his hometown of Eforie Sud in the presence of several hundred people who spontaneously applauded his grave.
