The Nidau-Büren Canal is a twelve kilometer long canal between Lake Biel and the Aare near Büren in the canton of Bern in Switzerland .

In it, the Aare, which has been flowing from Aarberg into Lake Biel since the first correction of the Jura waters through the Hagneck Canal, flows back to its old bed near Büren. It also took over the function of the lower Zihl , which was previously the natural outflow of Lake Biel, and from Port is identical to this straightened, widened and deepened river. It was re-dug from Lake Biel near Nidau to Port. Below the former confluence of the Zihl into the Aare, the canal cuts off a wide oxbow lake that has become an important regional nature reserve in Häftli .

The weir Port is located in the Nidau-Büren Canal to regulate the water levels in Lake Biel, Lake Neuchâtel and Lake Murten (the three connected Jura lakes ) and the water level in the Aare from Büren downwards . It is accompanied by a lock measuring 12 × 25 meters , which is used by the Bielersee-Schifffahrts-Gesellschaft's scheduled boats between Biel and Solothurn. In 1995, a river power station with an average production of 25 million kilowatt hours per year was put into operation on the Brügg side .

Between Biel and Büren an der Aare, the scheduled boats serve the landing stages of Nidau, Port and Brügg.

From Nidau to Büren an der Aare, nine road bridges (including the bridge on the Wehr Port), a footbridge and a railway bridge (Biel – Lyss line ) cross the watercourse.
