Lohe (until 1926 Niederbecksen , Low German : Nienbiesen ) is the southernmost district of the city of Bad Oeynhausen in the Minden-Lübbecke district in East Westphalia .

location

Lohe is the southernmost district of the city of Bad Oeynhausen. Lohe borders the city center in the north, the Rehme district in the east , the city of Löhne in the west and the city of Vlotho in the south , both in the Herford district. The southernmost point of the Minden-Lübbecke district is in Lohe.

The area of the Lohe district lies in the undulating Oeynhausen hill country, a part of the Ravensberg hill country, which is partly heavily divided by streams; Typical are the box valleys called Sieke . The northern part of the area is made up of rocks from the Lower Jura (Lias), the southern part is made up of rocks from the Upper Muschelkalk ( Keuper ).

history

The community Niederbecksen , which was created around 1860 by the division of the previous community Rehme-Niederbecksen, was renamed Lohe on April 1, 1926 . On the occasion of the local reorganization , which came into force on January 1, 1973, the previously independent community of Lohe with a total area of around 6.59 km² and 2657 inhabitants was incorporated into Bad Oeynhausen. Before it belonged to the Rehme office with the Werste office in the Minden district . The old Germanic meeting place of Marklohe is currently believed to be here.

Economy and Infrastructure

On the Lohe there is a 56 hectare industrial area with businesses from the fields of mechanical engineering, paint and varnish production and furniture production.

The school on the Hellerhagen (Hellerhagener Straße / Valdorfer Straße) was built between 1904 and 1905 and was the southernmost in the Minden district. The Loher School (on Loher Strasse, now a residential building) was built in 1912. After the new building (today's school building on Loher Strasse) and the merging of the schools in 1956, the Hellerhagen school building was sold. The school has been a primary school since 1969. Since 2010 it has been part of the Wichern-Lohe primary school network . There is also a kindergarten on the Lohe.

Attractions

The parish of Lohe was parish off from Rehme in 1889 and the Martin Luther Church was consecrated in 1892. It was renovated between 1964 and 1966. The brick building was plastered, and a previously red brick facade became a white plaster coating. In January 1990 the 16 meter high spire was torn from the tower shaft by a hurricane and then rebuilt in its previous form. The altar Bible donated by Empress Auguste Viktoria is still available.
