The recumbent forget-me-not ( Myosotis decumbens ), also known as changeable forget-me-not , is a species of plant from the genus forget-me-not ( Myosotis ) within the predatory family (Boraginaceae). It is distributed with several subspecies in Europe and in western North Africa.

Vegetative characteristics

The low lying forget-me-not grows as a wintering green, perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 20 to 40 centimeters. It forms short runners . The leaves are arranged in a basal rosette and alternately distributed on the stem. The basal leaves are long stalked. The stem leaves are ovate.

Generative characteristics

The flowering period extends from June to August. The hermaphroditic flowers are radial symmetry and five-fold with a double flower envelope . The base of the calyx is rounded and breaks off from the fruit stalk when ripe. The calyx is often a little or much shorter than the corolla tube, and it has triangular calyx lobes with protruding, hooked, curved hairs 0.4 to 0.5 millimeters long. The five petals are light blue. The flowering period is June to August.

The fruit stalks are 3 to 4 millimeters long. The clauses are at least 2 millimeters long.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 18 or 32.

Occurrence

Locations of the low-lying Vergissmeinnicht are fresh Bach Staudenfluren , spring swamps , damp forests and warehouses corridors . Myosotis decumbens occurs in societies of the Adenostylion alliariae association or the association Rumicion alpini. In the Allgäu Alps, the species rises from the valley locations to an altitude of 1720 meters on the Grünten .

Systematics and distribution

The first description of Myosotis decumbens was made in 1827 by Nicolaus Thomas Host in the Flora Austriaca , 1, p 228 Synonyms of Myosotis decumbens host are: Myosotis frigida (Vestergr.) Czernov , Myosotis sylvatica subsp. frigida Vestergr.

From Myosotis decumbens there are several subtypes:

  • Myosotis decumbens subsp. decumbens
  • Myosotis decumbens subsp. florentina Grau : It only occurs in Italy.
  • Myosotis decumbens subsp. kerneri (Dalla Torre & Sarnth.) Grau (Syn .: Myosotis kerneri Dalla Torre & Sarnth. , Myosotis variabilis subsp. kerneri (Dalla Torre & Sarnth.) O.Schwarz ): It comes in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, in Italy, the former Yugoslavia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Romania and the Ukraine.
  • Myosotis decumbens subsp. rifana (Maire) Greuter & Burdet (Syn .: Myosotis alpestris var. rifana Maire ): It occurs in Algeria and Morocco.
  • Myosotis decumbens subsp. teresiana (Sennen) gray (Syn .: Myosotis teresiana Sennen , Myosotis sylvatica subsp. teresiana (Sennen) O.Bolòs & Vigo , Myosotis rosalie Sennen , Myosotis rouxii Sennen ): It occurs in Spain and southern France.
