The NiederrheinWeg is located in North Rhine-Westphalia and is a 132 km long regional hiking trail on the left Lower Rhine. The circular route was created in the course of 2007 and 2008 through the initiative of the association of "Niederrheinische Berg- und Wanderfreunde eV" and is also looked after by him.

Most of the route runs in the southern part of the Wesel district and in the south-eastern edge of the Kleve district . It connects the towns and communities of Moers , Neukirchen-Vluyn , Rheurdt , Kamp-Lintfort , Issum , Alpen and Rheinberg with each other on varied scenic paths .

On April 21, 2007, the first sign of the way was ceremoniously placed in front of the Rheurdt town hall. In the town hall there is also an illuminated information board that shows the most important sights along the route at the push of a button.

The NiederrheinWeg often runs parallel to other cycling and hiking trails that cross the Lower Rhine in different directions and represents typical landscapes of the Lower Rhine. He leads z. B. over the Ice Age terminal moraines of the Lower Rhine ridge with the Hülser Berg , the Schaephuysener heights and the Oermter Berg . From the Eyller Berg dump in Kamp-Lintfort (Geisbruch district) it is not far to Kamp Monastery with its restored terrace garden. The path leads several times through Donken , as well as through the extensive heather and forest area " Die Leucht ". He invites you to visit the local history museum "His-Törchen" in Issum and shows what a moth is in the Alps . He also provides insight into the through gravel extraction resulting artificial lake district north of Rheinkamp and views to by the coal industry resulting stalemate Berghalde and stockpile Rheinpreußen in Moers, the Halde Nord Germany in Neukirchen. In the last two decades of the 20th century, these spoil heaps were all greened and released for local recreation through cooperation between the mine operator RAG and the Ruhr Regional Association (RVR).

The NiederrheinWeg forms an important tourist building block for the Niederrhein Landscape Park , which is currently being developed, but also extends beyond its area.
