The Lower Saxony house in the Goldberg group of the Hohen Tauern is an Alpine Club hut of the Hanover section of the German Alpine Club and is located in the Riffelscharte , which connects the Kolm-Saigurn with the Naßfeld , at an altitude of 2471  m above sea level. A. , approx. 4 km as the crow flies east of the Hohen Sonnblick in Salzburg ( Austria ).

The hut, inaugurated in 1926, burned to the ground at Christmas 1984, was rebuilt in 1986/87 and then continuously equipped with environmentally friendly technology.

Ascent

  • From the Lenzanger car park in the rear of the Rauriser valley to Kolm Saigurn and via a hiking trail to the Niedersachsenhaus (walking time approx. 2½ hours).
  • From Sportgastein via Hermann-Bahlsen-Weg to Niedersachsenhaus (walking time approx. 2½ hours).

Tours from the Niedersachsenhaus

  • Neuner Kogel ( 2823  m ): walking time from the hut approx. 1 hour.
  • Herzog Ernst ( 2933  m ): walking time from the hut approx. 1½ hours.
  • Schareck ( 3122  m ): walking time from the hut approx. 2½ hours.

These three peaks can be climbed in the order mentioned on the so-called Pröll-Weg .
