Life
After Møller had received his first artistic training from the painter friends (Malersvenn) in Drammen in 1850, he went to the Royal Drawing School in Christiania in 1851 . There he painted a (technically imperfect) portrait of his friend and classmate Lars Hertervig . In 1852 he attended the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen . The following year he followed Hertervig to Düsseldorf , who had taken private lessons there from Hans Fredrik Gude in 1852/1853 and was tutored by Erik Bodom in 1853/1854 . From 1855 to 1857 Møller was enrolled at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . At the academy he attended Gude's landscape class. From 1857 he switched to his private lessons. After completing his studies, he took up permanent residence in Düsseldorf, from where he went on study trips to Norway and Sweden, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands, as well as Paris. In 1860 he married the Swedish painter Jeanette Holmlund , who had been receiving private training in Düsseldorf since 1858. The couple had two children. From 1862 until his death, Møller was a member of the Malkasten artists' association .
