Nigel Guy Wilson

Nigel Guy Wilson FBA (born July 23, 1935 in London ) is a British classical scholar .

Nigel Guy Wilson studied at Corpus Christi College at the University of Oxford ( MA 1957) and then worked as a lecturer at Merton College at the same university. In 1962 he moved to Lincoln College as a Fellow and Tutor , where he worked until his retirement (2002). In 2001 he received an honorary doctorate from Uppsala University and in 2015 the Kenyon Medal for Classical Studies .

Wilson deals with Greek literature from ancient times to the Renaissance. His research interests include Greek tragedy and comedy , Greek palaeography and the reception and transmission of ancient literature among the Byzantines . He published authoritative text editions on Sophocles and Aristophanes .
