Nikolai Gurjewitsch Tschetajew
Nikolai Guryevich Tschetajew ( Russian Николай Гурьевич Четаев , English transcription Nikolay Gur'yevich Chetaev; born November 23, jul. / 6. December 1902 greg. In Karaduli, Ujesd Laishevo ; † 17th October 1959 in Moscow ) was a Russian physicist , mathematician and university professors .
Life
Tschetajew studied at the University of Kazan (KGU) with a degree in 1924. After a three-year traineeship with Dmitri Nikolayevich Seiliger , he became a candidate for physical-mathematical sciences . An internship at the Institute for Aerodynamics at the University of Göttingen followed in 1929 .
In 1930, Cheetayev became a professor at Kazan University. His fields of work were analytical mechanics and the theory of differential equations . He founded a school for theory of stability of the movement in the successor of Alexander Mikhailovich Lyapunov . The students included Nikolai Nikolajewitsch Krassowski , Joel Giljewitsch Malkin, and Valentin Vitalievich Rumjanzew . In 1932, Tschetajew founded the Kazan Aeronautical Institute with others , and became its vice director alongside his teaching activities at the KGU. 1933-1937 he headed the Department of aerodynamics of the new institute. In 1939 he received his doctorate in physical and mathematical sciences .
1940 Tschetajew professor of Moscow University (until 1959) and worked next to the Institute of Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN-SSSR) . In 1943 he became a corresponding member of the AN-SSSR. He was one of the first members of the National Committee of the USSR for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, founded in 1956 .
Cheetayev was married twice and had a son from each marriage. Cheetayev was buried in the Moscow German Cemetery .
