Nikolaus Goetze

Nikolaus Goetze (* 1958 in Krefeld  ) is a German architect .

Life

Goetze studied architecture from 1980 at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen (RWTH Aachen). From 1985 to 1986 he attended Professor Wilhelm Holzbauer's master class at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. In 1987 he received his diploma at RWTH Aachen University and then began working in the office of Gerkan, Marg and Partner (gmp) in Hamburg, where he first became an "associated partner" in 1995 and "partner" in 1998. Goetze manages the Hamburg-Elbchaussee location and the gmp offices in Shanghai and Hanoi. Since 2010 he has been teaching regularly at the Academy for Architectural Culture (aac) in Hamburg, which he co-founded .

Nikolaus Goetze is married, has three children and lives in Harvestehude .

Awards (selection)

The Shanghai Oriental Sports Center , designed by Goetze together with Meinhard von Gerkan for the 2011 World Swimming Championships , received the International Architecture Award in Chicago in 2012. The National Conference Center Hanoi, also designed by Gerkan, was awarded the Vietnamese Architecture Prize in 2007; and the Chongqing Grand Theater (Shanghai Exploration & Design Trade Association 2011) and the National Congress Center in Hanoi (Vietnamese State Prize 2012) , among others, were awarded under Goetzes and von Gerkan's leadership .
