Nicholas Pilly

Nikolaus Rudolf Pilly (born December 6, 1930 in Călan , Kingdom of Romania ) is a politician who represents Romanian-German interests in Romania . The metallurgist is the author of several specialist publications. As a musician and composer, he became famous for playing the singing saw .

Life

Metallurg

Pilly comes from the ethnic group of the Transylvanian Saxons . In 1945 he attended the technical school "Şcoala Tehnică Medie model UDR" in Reșița . In the following years the metallurgist developed into a blast furnace specialist in steel production and headed the blast furnace department of the Victoria works in Călan. In this capacity, he wrote various publications and received ten work awards from the State Council of Romania.

In 1968 Pilly was a member of the office of the Council of Working People of German Nationality . He is currently the chairman of the Democratic Forum of Germans in Romania in Călan , Hunedoara County .

music

Pilly played the violin in the orchestra of the Orșova Middle School . He was a member of the first male choir of the conductor Ion Romanu . He studied violin playing at the Workers Conservatory for Music and Drama in Reșița, then in Călan , where he directed a school choir. Pilly has been playing the Singing Saw since 1952. With his performances he achieved fame among the Romanian Germans. He founded and directed the Deutscher Liederkranz in Călan from 1992 to 2007. Since his retirement in 1981 he has written over 200 songs and ballads. Pilly became friends with the composer Walter Michael Klepper .
