The Nilljochhütte (until the end of the 2008 season: Niljochhütte ) is a privately operated, managed refuge above the Virgental , in the Austrian East Tyrol . It is located on the southern flank of the Großvenediger massif ( 3657  m ) in the Hohe Tauern National Park . The house was rebuilt from 2009 to 2010 on the site of the old Niljochhütte and opened on June 19, 2010.

The hut is located below the Bonn-Matreier hut and can be used as a starting point for tours in the southern Venediger group such as. B. on the Wunspitze ( 3219  m ) can be used. A variant of the Venediger Höhenweg leads past the hut. The ascent from the Virgental to the Nilljochhütte is problem-free and easily accessible for children and seniors.
