Nina Dittrich (born November 20, 1990 in Vienna ) is an Austrian swimmer .
Career
Both of Dittrich's parents were active swimming athletes themselves in the 1980s. Mother Ulrike, then still unmarried Ulrike Bauer , achieved Austrian records in the 100 m and 200 m breasts and took part in the 1982 World Championships in Guayaquil ( Ecuador ) and the 1983 European Championships in Rome ( Italy ). Father Kurt Dittrich , also a multiple record holder, was on the Austrian team at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow ( Soviet Union ) and is Nina Dittrich's trainer.
Dittrich began her sporting career at SC Austria Wien and celebrated her first successes at the 2003 Youth Olympic Days in Paris ( France ), where she finished second in the 200 m medley. She moved to SVS Simmering and achieved third place in the 200 m medley at the European Youth Championships in Budapest ( Hungary ) in 2005 . A little later she took part in the swimming world championships in Montreal ( Canada ) for the first time (22nd over 200 m individual medley). At the European Short Course Championships in Trieste (Italy) in 2005 , she just missed the final as 10th over 200 m butterfly. In 2006 she won silver over 200 m medley and bronze over 200 m butterfly at the European youth championships in Palma ( Spain ) and the first Austrian youth medal at the youth world championships in Rio de Janeiro ( Brazil ) with bronze over 200 m butterfly -Swimming World Championships. At the European Swimming Championships in Budapest in 2006 , she finished 12th in the 200 meter butterfly and 16th in the 200 meter medley. The following year she finished ninth in the 200 meter butterfly at the 2007 European Short Course Championships in Debrecen (Hungary). At the European Swimming Championships in Eindhoven ( Netherlands ) in 2008 , she was tenth in this discipline.
She took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing ( People's Republic of China ) over 200 m medley and 200 m butterfly . Then she moved to ASV Linz to train with Helge Gödecke. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, she took part in the 800 m freestyle competition.
On November 28, 2012, she announced her retirement from competitive sports.
