Life
Nive Nielsen began making music while studying at the University of Ottawa .
Her first album as a singer and songwriter for Nive Nielsen & the Deer Children was first released in 2009 under the title Nive Sings! at her own label and in 2012 at Glitterhouse Records . The album was produced by John Parish, among others, and included contributions by Parish, Howe Gelb , Ralph Carney and other musicians. The music on it was assigned to folk - pop or indie and neo- folk . According to Amelie Köpl in her review on Laut.de , the album leaves a “rather contemplative and gloomy first impression”, but it is also “dreamy and playful”. Walter Sehrer in Eclipsed reminded Nielsen's voice of Suzanne Vega and sometimes of Billie Holiday .
The second album was released in 2015 under the title Feet First again on Glitterhouse. It was written in different locations over a period of three years and again included contributions from guest musicians. Sven Niechziol from Musikexpress heard from the album "a bit (weird) jazz here , vaudeville and chamber music there , with the pillars of indie pop , country and folk never missing".
As an actress, had Nive Nielsen in 2005, a small role in the film The New World of Terrence Malick . In the AMC series The Terror , broadcast in 2018 , she plays the role of Netsilik woman Lady Silence.
